What are you getting rid of?
State rules to know
Asbestos
Uinta County landfills take only non-friable asbestos, with paperwork and a per-ton fee; friable asbestos is not accepted. Other Wyoming counties set their own asbestos rules, so call first. Official rule ↗
Hazardous waste
Hazardous waste and PCBs are barred from county landfills such as Uinta County; household hazardous waste goes to a designated drop-off (Casper runs a free permanent one for residents). Official rule ↗
Secured loads
Loads must be tarped or secured. Untarped loads are charged extra at facilities such as Teton County, Laramie, Campbell County and Johnson County. Official rule ↗
Refrigerators and freon appliances
Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are taken for a per-unit fee, often with a decommissioning step. Sheridan waives the charge if a certificate shows the freon was removed. Official rule ↗
Casper runs a free permanent household hazardous waste drop-off for City residents (no appointment). Campbell County takes household hazardous waste free for residents. Park County held no household hazardous waste day in 2025 and says one may be held in 2026. Rock Springs sends chemicals and pesticides to its wastewater treatment plant.
Before you go
Can anyone use these facilities?
22 listed facilities are confirmed open to the public. Others may limit access by residency or customer type. Check the individual access rules.
How much does a dump run cost?
Compare the listed minimum charges and item fees. A missing price means call to confirm, and an accepted item may still carry the normal load fee.
