Dumps & landfills in Nevada

Nevada is mostly run by a few big operators and rural counties. Las Vegas area residents use Republic Services transfer stations and the Apex landfill; Reno/Sparks residents use WM transfer stations and Lockwood landfill; rural counties run their own landfills, many free to local residents with proof of residency. Always check the county page for resident rules, since out-of-county users often pay more.

State rules to know

Tires

Waste tires generated in a county that has a permitted waste tire management facility must be sent to that facility instead of the landfill. Haulers of waste tires must register (Clark and Washoe through their health districts, the rest of the state through NDEP). Official rule ↗

Illegal dumping

Nevada law (NRS 444.630) bans dumping any solid waste, including junk vehicles, construction debris and yard debris, anywhere but a designated facility. It is a misdemeanor with criminal and civil penalties. Official rule ↗

Household hazardous waste (Clark County)

The Southern Nevada Health District tells residents to call ahead before dropping off household hazardous waste, e-waste or bulky items, since fees may apply. Official rule ↗

Clark County: Republic Services lists household hazardous waste drop-off at 333 W Gowan Rd, North Las Vegas and 560 Cape Horn Dr, Henderson on a Wednesday-Saturday 9:00 am-1:00 pm calendar; call 702-735-5151 to confirm. Elsewhere, call the county or landfill.
